Most people say that you don't start to be able to remember your memories before age three or four, but I can clearly say that the first memory I can remember was from age two.
We were living on an army base in Georgia. It was hot that day and my dad was in basic training. I remember my mother was in the kitchen and I decided to go outside and play. The kitchen window overlooked the front of the house, so my mother had no problem letting me go outside and play by myself. Also, being on an army base in 1986, security really wasn't that much of an issue. I walked out of the house wearing a pair of white sandals, a t-shirt, and either little shorts or maybe even my underwear. I headed out onto the grass and saw a mound of sand and decided to kick it over. Well, it wasn't sand, it was a fire ant hill.
They quickly ran out of the hill and began running up my legs and biting me in the process. I remember kicking and screaming and crying until my mom ran out of the house and brushed them off of me.
