Family Fun Night

by Alisha Stanojevic
(Akron, Ohio)

So it is family fun night, I am between 10-12 years old. These nights were few and far between because my father was always working. He was a janitor for a local school so when he came home he would be very tired and wanted to rest. My mother sometimes went to work with him so this is why family fun nights did not happen too often. My sister would have been between 5 and 7 and she was a royal pain all the time! Growing up I always thought she was treated better because she was the baby, but later I figured out that I was just jealous of not being the baby anymore.

So moving on, Dad comes home and tells my sister and I to get ready, we are going out for a surprise! My sister and I look at each other and race to our room to change and then wash up as fast as humanly possible! Finally we thought to ourselves, a night out to do something, anything! So we scramble into my father’s conversion van and head off to Chucky Cheese!

For those of you who are not aware of this awesome place for children, this is a video game palace with a big fat mouse that walks around and takes pictures with everyone. Oh and they have lots of delicious pizza, and you get prizes for the tickets you win from playing all of their games! My dad pulls in the Chucky Cheese; he pulls out a hard earned 20 dollar bill, and gets my sister and me tokens! He divides them up, and we play and laugh and ware ourselves out! It was the best of times that I could remember from that age!
