Mother's Day Baby

It had only been a few hours since Alina had made her debut into the world. Warm, crying and covered in muck; her entrance into our lives was one of the most joyful occasions we'd ever experienced. The irony of giving birth on mother's day was not lost on the family, and while Jeb rolled Linda out of the hospital in a borrowed wheelchair, the family at home was at full throttle trying to prepare the first breakfast they'd share as a complete family. The eldest child, Susan was the motherly matriarch of the family while her parents were away. The two younger boys prepared a hand painted banner, gingerly dipping their fingers into the blue and red paint; awkwardly spelling out a message to bring cheer to their parents. When the front door open, Jeb and Linda were greeted by a barrage of kisses and hugs. Granny was hard at work doing the dishes in the kitchen when they brought Alina in. Her eyes filled with tears and she grasped both Jeb and Linda into a giant bear hug. She was ecstatic beyond words. Linda carefully pulled Alina out of her carrier and presented her to the family. Susan could barely contain her tears as the little baby wrapped her fingers around her older sisters finger. This was the first mother's day they'd spend together as a complete family, but it wouldnt be the last. Everything was alright in the world, and both Jeb and Linda could not be happier. Even the young boys, reckless and hyper, behaved well in the presence of their youngest sibling, and each member of the family cried tears of joy. This was the beginning of the rest of their lives, and they were so content to just bask in the moment. This would be a day they would always cherish, forever.
