Never Be The Same: The Cream

by Eric
(Portland, ORE, USA)

1. Pick the person you most want to see in the world right now. Write a monologue or a letter to that person and then continue the story.

Hey, I know I didn't tell you I was going to be here. But here I am! I know that the last time I saw you there weren't fireworks or anything. Not that I expected there to be. I mean, we're both in happy relationships. Not that I want that to change. We should both be happy.

It's just, I can't ever completely shake the time we had. I know it wasn't that long in the grand scheme of things and we've both been with people longer than that. It was just special. Romantic. Literary. Corny? Yes, probably a little corny.

And, let me clarify. I don't think of you sexually. Barely even romantically. I just, think of you. It feels good to think of you. It makes me happy. Warm.

But, do you have any suggestions? I already deleted all of the pictures off my computer. Along with all the songs that reminded me of you. I stumble upon occasional items that happen to be associated with you, but what am I supposed to do? Throw everything away? Erase my memory banks?

See, the problem is, we never really got to the bad times. All those other relationships that get a big chunk of awful, when you look back on them you can remember a mix. There was no blend here. All we got was the cream on the top and so that is all that I can recall.

Damn it.
