I prefer warmth

I am a person who has always loved being warm. I do not like being cold at all. If the temperature drops below about 55 or 50 degrees (that's in Fahrenheit) I get grumpy. I will wear extra layers of clothes in the mildest times just to stay warm. I keep most of the blankets on my bed for 9 months out of the year. I love being warm.

So the whole idea of having to cool off during the warmest days of summer is crazy to me. Why do I want to cool off? It's finally warm enough for me! I'll wear shorts and turn the fan on, sure. I'll go see a movie at the theater just for the air conditioning on the absolute hottest days, the days when the temperature rises above 100. But 80? 90? That's just when I feel the most comfortable.

My friends will complain, and they'll seek out air conditioned comfort, and they'll lay around with no energy. Not me. I am in my element in the summer. Don't they realize how bad it is to be cold? Cold is horrible. Even in multiple layers, the wind and the chill will get through. I can't move when I'm cold.

I may change my mind as I get older, I suppose. But still, I've lived 48 years on this planet. From my earliest years as a kid, I've always stayed pretty much fully clothed, in jeans and a t-shirt, right up until the thermometer hits triple digits. It's just my way.

I much prefer the warmth. Some say the world will end in fire, and some say ice. Give me fire, every time. There's no such thing as too sweaty. There's no such thing as blazing sun. As long as I have plenty of water to drink and I'm not actually on fire, that is.

I do have some limits.
