Summer Writing Prompts

41. How would summer be different if you lived in the following places and why: the desert, an island, the top of a mountain, and Alaska?

42. What is the strangest thing you've ever seen happen during the summer? Why was it so weird? What might other people have thought about what you saw and why?

43. What is your favorite way to cool down during the summer? How well does it work? Do you think that such a method would work for you when you're older? Why or why not?

44. Create a made-up story using the following words: beach, Frisbee, crab, and sunscreen.

45. Imagine that you were an Olympic athlete who had to train outside for your events during the hottest days of the summer. How would you keep yourself healthy and safe? What parts of your training would be the most difficult and why?

46. What are some sounds that remind you of the summertime? Would it still feel like summer even if you heard them during another season? Why or why not?

47. You have planned a pool party with all of your best friends. What activities do you have available for all of your guests? What food will you eat? Will it be a success? Why or why not?

48. Would you rather go to sleep-away camp or stay at home during the summer? What are the positives and negatives of either option? Would your parents make the same choice as you? Why or why not?

49. Imagine a summer vacation with every member of your extended family along for the ride. Which family member would you enjoy hanging out with the most? Why? Which ones would you try to avoid and why?

50. While some people look forward to summer vacation, other people wish they could stay in school all year long. What is another example of something that two people might look at completely differently? Do you think it's important for people to have different opinions? Why or why not?
