Living Without Text Messaging

by Cindy Cabrera

I love love text messaging. There's not a day that I don't text. I use text messaging to keep in touch with my friends. Also when I'm not in the mood for talking I just text. I wasn't born with a phone in my hand but ever since I got a a phone, it will always be near me.

Text messaging is an important part of my life because it's basically how I communicate with people when I'm not with them. My mom taught me how to text message. I used talk on the phone a lot but now all I do is text. Texting has consumed my life.

I actually got my text messaging disabled for several months because that's all I did. I used to text at the dinner table, while people were talking to me. Also in class, luckily I never got it taken away but I shouldn't have done it.

During the time that I had my messaging disabled I realized a lot of things. Like I learned to be more social with my family. I became more responsible as well as mature. I also spent more time with my family and less with my phone.

I do have texting now but I'm not an avid texter. I'm not as rude, meaning I don't text during dinner and while I'm talking to someone. My phone isn't always attached to me. So I have more free time to do the things that I like. Like spending time with family.
