Our relationships and our relationship with technology

by Valeria C.
(Ocala, FL)

Many people believe that technology takes our time away from important thing such as our family and friends. I, however, think completely different. In my opinion, technology has given us more ways to connect with people all around the world that we should be highly appreciative of. Without technology, we would be socially deprived!

Technology has given us the opportunities to meet people that we, without technology, probably wouldn't have been able to get in contact with. Some people wouldn't have even met their future husbands and wives without Online dating Websites. I'm sure those people are thrilled to have these sorts of technologies at their fingertips! Aside from meeting people, technology helps us keep in contact with people we already know.

Let's say there is a business man who spends seventy-five percent of his time traveling and away from his family. He recently had a daughter with his wife and is unable to spend the time he wants with his daughter. Thanks to technology, this man will be able to watch his daughter grow up even if he isn't home. With websites like twitter and Facebook, his wife can posts pictures, videos, and write about new things so he doesn't feel out of the loop. Something that has recently become extremely popular is video-chatting programs like Skype or OovoO. With these, the business man would be able to actually have live-feed video chat with his wife and daughter. So to some people, technology is keeping them connected to those they love.

Overall it's become obvious that technology, like internet, has become more than just a way to find information. The technology of today has altered the way we communicate and socialize with others. It?s improved our ability to connect with friends and relatives and makes it easier to socialize. Over all its obvious that technology like Facebook and twitter is helping our society and more specifically our relationships with others.
