Air of Freedom

I am able to walk, drive or fly anywhere in this country as long as my money holds out. I can dress myself up glamorously or dress myself down in rags and I won’t be chastised by the morality police or the fashionistas Nazis. I am able to be anybody I want on the phone or online.

I am free to be whoever I want to pretend to be. I can be whatever I want to display to others. I choose my clothes, car, living space and neighborhood not based on race, religion, politics but only on the amount of money I have to afford to live here or there.

I know people who are living on air. Homeless, no income, dumpster diving drifters who seem to manage to live without any visible means of support. They get a little help from their friends, government or religious food banks, living in the hollows and dips of undeveloped land to stay hidden from sight from those who wish to solve the visible homelessness problem. But these people deprived of money are still free to live. Free to roam. Free to die or live as they choose.

If you can walk the woods of green
If you can see the mountains views
If you can roam the vast prairie
You will taste the air of freedom!

If you can ride the miles of land
If you can smell flowers in bloom
If you can feel the clean waters
You will taste the air of freedom!

Freedom is here, freedom is now
Keep and hold your freedom forever.

If you can fly and scan the sky
If you can ramble through the clouds
If you can feel the rays of sun
You will taste the air of freedom!

If you can talk and laugh together
If you can love and hold each other
If you can hope and pray forever
You will taste the air of freedom!
