Every Friday my three best girlfriends and I attended teen dances at a Moose Lodge. The dances were always so much fun. We danced the two hours away and then one of our dads would pick us up and take us for ice cream or pizza. we could not wait during the school week for Friday night. Planning our outfits was a major as completing our homework assignments! What color shoes, what kind of outfit - slacks or skirts - and we always borrowed from each other but changed the outfit a little by adding a flower or a clip on earring to the shoes. We were giddy with excitement all week.
This one particular week a very popular but short statured fraternity guy asked me to dance and he also gave me his fraternity pin. I was on cloud nine. My friends were not happy. They made fun of me and of him. I was disappointed and hurt. Now I had no one to share my happiness. One little crack and the whole dream was shattered.
